Arriving by ferry at Kuah Jetty? See how to reach your Langkawi hotel: private transfer from RM65, taxi, Grab and rental car, with prices by area.
Most visitors who come to Langkawi by sea arrive at the Kuah jetty after a ferry from Kuala Perlis, Kuala Kedah or Penang. The ferry ride is easy, but the jetty is in Kuah town, and many hotels are on the other side of the island, 25 minutes or more away. A Langkawi jetty to hotel transfer takes you from the ferry to your door in one ride, with a driver who is already waiting.

After the ferry: what the jetty is like
When the ferry docks, everyone walks off together, so taxis and Grab cars are busy for the first twenty minutes. A booked transfer avoids this: your driver is already at the jetty with a car sized for your group. If you are still working out your route to the island, read how to get to Langkawi: flights, ferries and car pickup.
Your options from the jetty
| Option | Best for | What to know |
|---|---|---|
| Taxi | Couples and solo travellers | Easy to find, but you may queue when a ferry has just arrived, and bigger groups need two cars. |
| Grab | A backup when you have signal and time | Fewer drivers than in a big city, so the wait can be long. |
| Rental car | Visitors who want to drive during their stay | We hand over the car at the Langkawi Ferry Jetty at no extra pickup fee. See airport and jetty pickup in Langkawi. |
| Private transfer | Families, groups, seniors, anyone with heavy bags | A driver is waiting. You pay one fixed price for the whole car. |

Staying somewhere else on the island? Choose Other places in Langkawi, priced like the Tanjung Rhu area. The Vellfire, Alphard and Alphard Executive Lounge are also available, and the full price list is on the airport and jetty transfer page. A return trip costs twice the one-way price, and on peak season days a transfer pickup costs 25% more. The page always shows the exact price for your date before you pay.
Going back to the jetty for your ferry
For your trip home, book the transfer as a return, or as a separate one-way ride from your hotel to the jetty. Aim to be at the jetty about 45 minutes before the ferry leaves, so you have time for your ticket and the queue. Choose a pickup time at your hotel that allows for the drive from the table above.
Late and early ferries
A pickup before 7:00 in the morning or after 11:00 at night has an odd hour charge of RM50 for each pickup. If your ferry is the first or the last of the day, you will see this in the total before you pay. Ferry times can change with the weather and the season, so check your ticket before you choose the pickup time.
A day trip from the mainland
If you are crossing from Kuala Perlis for a single day, you can start a 4-hour or 8-hour car with driver package at the jetty. The driver meets you at Kuah and takes you around the island, and you end the day back at the jetty for your return ferry. See one day in Langkawi with a private driver for routes you can follow.

How much is a transfer from the jetty to my hotel in Langkawi?
From RM65 in a Toyota Veloz for Kuah town, and from RM60 to Pantai Cenang. Hotels farther away cost more, up to RM130 in a Veloz for The Datai. The price is for the whole car.
Which jetty do the ferries from Kuala Perlis arrive at?
Most ferries from Kuala Perlis, Kuala Kedah and Penang arrive at the Kuah jetty (Langkawi Ferry Terminal). Check the details on your ferry ticket.
What if my ferry is late?
Message us on WhatsApp with your ferry time and we will tell your driver.
Can I book a transfer for a big group?
Yes. The Hyundai Grand Starex seats seven. For a larger group, book two cars. Each car has its own driver.
Is the price per person?
