Langkawi airport transfer from RM60: prices by area, taxi vs private car vs rental car, what to expect on arrival and how to book a driver online.
You land at Langkawi, collect your bags and want to be at the hotel as soon as possible. A Langkawi airport transfer does exactly that: a driver and a clean car are booked for you before you fly, so there is no queue for a taxi and no need to find a Grab. This guide shows what the options are, what a private transfer costs for each part of the island and how to book one.

Your options at Langkawi airport
Langkawi airport is small and easy, and you have four ways to reach your hotel. Which one is best depends on your group, your luggage and how much you want to do on your own.
| Option | Best for | What to know |
|---|---|---|
| Airport taxi | Solo travellers and couples on a short ride | You buy a coupon at the counter and the fare is set by area. Larger MPV taxis cost more, and there can be a queue when several flights land together. |
| Grab | Backup when you need a ride at short notice | There are fewer drivers than in a big city, and waiting times can be long, especially late in the evening. |
| Rental car | Visitors who want to drive for several days | You collect the car at the airport and keep it for your stay. See car rental prices in Langkawi. |
| Private transfer | Families, groups, seniors, late arrivals | Booked and paid before you fly. A driver meets you and you pay one fixed price for the whole car. |
If you plan to drive for most of your trip, a rental car is the cheaper choice, and our guide to airport and jetty pickup in Langkawi explains how the pickup works. If you would rather not drive, or you only need a ride on the first and last day, a private transfer is simpler. Not sure which suits you? Read car, taxi or Grab: getting around Langkawi.
Private transfer prices by area
We split the island into five main areas, and the price depends on the area of your hotel and on the car you choose. These are one-way prices for the whole car.

Staying somewhere else on the island? Choose Other places in Langkawi, which is priced like the Tanjung Rhu area. The Toyota Alphard Executive Lounge, our top car, starts from RM220 for a transfer. A return trip (for example, the airport to your hotel and back again at the end of your stay) is twice the one-way price. On peak season days, such as school holidays and public holidays, a transfer pickup costs 25% more, and the page shows the exact price for your date before you pay.
How long the drive takes
The airport is on the west side of the island, so some hotels are very close and others are a longer drive. These times are a guide for normal traffic.
- Pantai Cenang and Tengah: about 10 to 15 minutes.
- Kuah Town and the jetty: about 20 to 25 minutes.
- Pantai Kok and SkyCab: about 30 minutes.
- Tanjung Rhu and Four Seasons: about 35 to 40 minutes.
- The Datai: about 40 to 45 minutes.
What to expect when you land
- Add your flight number when you book, so the driver knows which flight to expect. If your flight changes, message us on WhatsApp.
- Your driver's name and phone number are sent to your email before your trip.
- Add a meet-and-greet sign if you would like the driver to wait for you in the arrival hall holding your name.
- Luggage: the Veloz and Innova Zenix suit a family with the usual suitcases. For many bags, golf clubs or a big group, choose the Starex, Vellfire or Alphard.
- Child seats can be added when you book.
Early and late flights
If your pickup is before 7:00 in the morning or after 11:00 at night, an odd hour charge of RM50 is added for each pickup. It pays for a driver at an hour when most people are asleep, and you see it in the total before you pay. A return trip has two pickups, so the charge applies to each pickup that falls in these hours.

Frequently asked questions
How much is an airport transfer in Langkawi?
A private transfer starts from RM60 in a Toyota Veloz to Pantai Cenang. Hotels farther from the airport cost more, and bigger cars such as the Starex, Vellfire and Alphard cost more again. The price is for the whole car, not per person.
Is a private transfer more expensive than a taxi?
For one or two people on a short ride, an airport taxi can cost less. For a family or a group, one private car with a fixed price is often the same or cheaper, and you do not need to queue or split into two taxis.
Can I book a return transfer?
Yes. A return trip is booked together and costs twice the one-way price. You choose the pickup time for each direction.
What if my flight is delayed?
Add your flight number when you book, and message us on WhatsApp if your flight changes. We will tell your driver.
Is there an extra charge for late night flights?
A pickup before 7:00 AM or after 11:00 PM has an odd hour charge of RM50 for each pickup. The charge is included in the total you see before you pay.
Can I pay a deposit?
Yes. You can pay in full, or pay a deposit now and the balance later.
Can the driver also take me to the jetty or a day tour?
Yes. The same service covers the airport and the jetty, and you can hire the car and driver for 4 or 8 hours to see the island. See car with driver in Langkawi.
